Where do you feel most free?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for January 23, 2009:
Nowhere. In South Africa there is no, but no place where you can feel free. My husband's cousin, a 72 year old lady, was beaten to death with a stone alongside her late husband's grave on Sunday morning after a church service. Our local newspaper warns all the parents to do not allow their children to walk to school alone.

Help

Winnie - you are in a most challenging set of circumstances; I think of you, pray/talk/envision for peace in your life; my heart walks with you today. Remember, you are free to choose how you respond both inwardly and outwardly to all that is. barbara
Wow..what a terrible thing to not be able to feel free anywhere. When I was a kid in school I always liked the guy who wrote the poem about being in prison and yet feeling free..cant for the life of me remember who that is right now, but you get the ‘gist’ of what I am saying? However, in the REAL world, with events like your husband’s cousin (I feel like I should know this woman’s name to honour her somehow)..it is much more difficult to feel this freedom even if one is more ‘conscious’ ‘aware’ and ‘in tune’ relatively speaking than those who surround her/him..I felt frightened just reading your post, and wish I could help. I really want to go to Africa to volunteer in the next couple of years (will take that long to figure finances out) but get afraid when I read and research more of what’s going on in ALL African countries these days..so scarey. Keep on coming to Gaia Winnie, ok..I am sure you can get some comfort here at least.
